Mushiake-yaki is made from mountain clay with a natural pine ash glaze with yellow and green toning.
Wajima lacquer lid.
Old kintsugi repair lends a coveted wabi-sabi aesthetic.
Mark to bottom corresponding to the year 1837.
This piece comes with an appraisal certificate from Matasaburo Katsura, a renowned researcher of old ceramics and appraiser of Bizen-yaki pottery.
