This exquisite 18th century Japanese Edo lacquered and gilt Buddhist zushi shrine features an intricately etched bronze door, base, and corners. The interior is gilded and depicts Kannon standing before a mandorla, holding a vase of nectar with the right hand and welcoming the faithful to paradise with the left hand lowered. Kannon stands upon a carved lotus on a gilded base.
